How are your children going to learn about finances?

Most schools are no longer teaching financial literacy. As a parent, YOU will be your child’s finance teacher, unless you make other arrangements! If you do not take this job seriously, your child will need to play catch up when they become independent. On the other hand, by starting early you can teach your child important life lessons using money. These can include patience and delayed gratification while saving up for a game or outing. They can learn to plan for a bigger purchase like a bike or car. Giving your child the opportunity to use money as part of their childhood education allows them to feel confident and competent when they live independently.

Our books Raising Financially Independent Children and Financially Independent Teens both discuss how to teach children about budgeting and making choices.
